Europe, 1200

A continent of lords and free cities, drawn as it really was. You arrive in one land with nothing but a name — and a name, out here, travels faster than any horse.

What you do in one town is spoken of in the next. Who you were yesterday decides who opens the door today.

Enter the world

What kind of world it is

A real map, not a level

Pull back and you see a continent; lean in and there is the road you were walking, the river you have to cross, the wood you would rather not enter after dark.

Your name arrives first

Renown is not a number on a sheet — it is what one country says about you to the next. In one land you are welcome. Cross a border, and nobody has heard of you at all.

Every road asks a price

Some roads are watched. Some are not, and that is worse. What you carry is exactly as safe as the place you are carrying it through.

Power belongs to somebody

Each town answers to someone: a lord, a chapter, a council of shouting men. They set the tolls, they call the guard — and the seat can change hands.

A door of your own

Somewhere out there is a roof that could be yours, and then a yard, and then more than a yard. Owning things in this century is not only comfort. It is a target.

The world does not wait

Wars are declared, camps are raided, someone is robbed on a road you walked yesterday. Log off, come back, and the country has moved on without you.

Before you go in

Free, in the browser

No download, no launcher, no signup to look around. It runs on a phone too.

Slow by design

Distances are real distances. You will learn the roads, and that is half the game.

Other people are in it

The strangers on the road are not all scripted. Some of them are reading this page.
